Just checking in
All is still fine. I really don’t have the time to blog large stuff anymore – finding 10 minutes of internet every few days often has that effect. However, I’ve asked the lovely Nadine if she could sort a work-around out, and as a result there may be much more Pete on PETEblog shortly….. If theres not it’s entirely her fault, so stone her to death or something equally retributal (is that even a word?). Anyway until then….

No commentshome away from home, at last.
How long has it been? 4 days? meh.
I’m now in Cape Town, finally after 4 days of transit and orientation. It was all a lot of fun, the poms, as dirty and whinging as they are were a right laugh (check out me language, guv!) and Dave and I have gotten along pretty damn well, even through my corruption of his poor innocent mind. Cape Town must be one of the most beautiful cities on earth, it’s basically this quaint little city of around 2 mill plonked around the spectacular table mountain. If or when I find/develop photos I’ll show you.
The place we’re working at is similarly awesome. It’s in Khayelitsha, which is the largest and poorest shanty or slum in the Western Cape. Apart from the silly but never ending warnings of being stabbed or shot or both, the people are really nice, although we work in a school that is secure – I don’t think I’d be caught dead walking the actual streets.
Anyway must head off. Hopefully I’ll gain a more permanent connection sooner or later, but for the time being I’m stuck with overpriced internet cafes around the place, as the internet at school is one 56kb modem for like 7234629 computers.

3 commentsHey ho diggedy!
So it’s been a while. Well at least I’ve had my excuses.
No really I have this time.
I’m finally in South Africa after 7 months of anticipation and 24 hours of flying in a god foresaken jumbo. Singapore is a really awesome airport, but at 1 in the morning suicide becomes a prevalent thought.
At the moment I’m paying 10 rand per 15 minutes at a backpackers in Joburg. I’ve met all the poms, including Dave, my partner dude for the GAP year, and we all get a long quite well. Tomorrow is the big move though, to Cape Town, and eventually Khalitsha. mmmmm.
Anyway lunch is on and I’m missing out…. plus this is damn expensive. Catch you all soon.

I’m back in melbourne for a few days – Driving tests, IB results and such.
I got my score yesterday and my ENTER today. I don’t think I’m fully comfortable publishing it here, but feel free to ask me – it’s not that I’m a private person or anything – it’s just rather poor.
There’s no use hiding the fact that I went shitily. I’m not going to get into Biomed, or even Science/Arts at either of the two bigun’s here. Oh well, I’ll still make it there eventually. Maybe school just wasn’t the right place for me to shine.
I rang dad and mum who were still in Anglesea as soon as I got wind of the result. They were understandably disappointed but still supportive. I got another call in the early afternoon and two more last night, checking up on me. They are convinced I’m going to jump off a bridge or something. I swear, they weren’t THAT bad
Meh….. Only 11 days before I leave, as if IB matters anymore. At least I passed
