Talkies

Wow. Never underestimate the potential happiness a late night phonecall can provide. Especially when you were previously down in the dumps. Love you nads…

Life & the UMAT

Meh today was up and down. Caulfield racecourse was so changed. Instead of horsies runnign around outside there were 3500 year 12 kids sitting inside taking an exam. All in two rooms too… Yes they were that big.

The test itself was great. Section one, which is basically the verbal reasoning part of an IQ test was simple enough, and the second section, the bit that trips up 70% of all applicants was great. Dallas’ course REALLY paid off. Section three however, the non-verbal reasoning stuff was whacked. The sequential stuff was easy, and as I expected the type one questions were gettable enough, but type 2 (look to the previous entry for an example) was whacked. I only got about 2 of 8…

That still places me well within the 90th percentile if I went as well as I think. Thats good.

After lunch at home I decided not to try to go back to school for the last class, and hang around at home. Mum had 3AW blaring in the background with some stupid afternoon radio talk show on, and at one stage up came an ad for Barry Humphries new season in Melbourne. I talked to mum and we thought it would be a laugh to see him/her again, so we decided to go book some tickets. Milly had to go for some sort of kitten shot thing, and so we dropped past ticketmaster to pick them up. God Mil hates cars. heheh she was shaking and hiding in her basketty thing the poor little thing. :P

When I got home it hit me. School. Life. Shit. Meh – I’ll get over it, I always do.

UMAT tomorrow

Ugh. This is going to be long and tedious. And impossible. At the course I did over the holidays, Dallas told us all that although we should try as hard as we could, the Type II questions in section 3 of the paper were going to be impossible. Some freaks naturally get them, but the overwhelming majority (like 999/1000) can’t get them without fluking it or many many more times the time constraint on the 80 second question. See what I mean below. This is from the practise booklet, with a type I, which is easy enough, and a type II below. Try it yourself. Told you so.

Oh and if you did get it within about a minute, fuck you – YOU SHOULD BE A DOCTOR!

Work is rather evil

Last night was such a cramming work session: got world lit #2 underway, world lit #1 polished and history internal coursework started. Pity TOK is due on Thursday – I haven’t started that yet. :P

getting there

Formal stuff to do / costs:

Tickets – $130
Suit for hire – $95
AP (after party) tickets – $70

Corsage (bonus points) – $20
Choccies (ditto) – $10
BP organised – $5

It’s getting there… at least now I have a suit sorted. check me out!

Now how COOL am I going to be? haha
I spent 20 minutes fiddling for the post to work – ended up installing Dodo’s super more hack. After initially posting I decided not to use it though. Meh.

Year 11 formal…

Got asked to the year 11 formal today. I was kinda knocked backwards by the proposition, but accepted happily and it seemed she was too. It was kinda cute – definately made my day :P . It’s in about a month, in comparison to 7 days for ours. Eh I just realised that means another hundred dollars. Plus suit hire and when a corsage and chocolates are in its more like $250. Shit.

At least it’ll be fun. And my date is attractive…

In more formal news, I bought the year 12 tickets today. I think I should go out and organise a suit this weekend so to make sure i get something. I can’t wear my old $20 tux from the op shop anymore because I’m like 5 years of growth too big for it. Ugh the dramas of formals ;)

Kitty Love

I was meaning to get pics of her earlier. We’ve had Millie for almost 4 weeks now, but her name still changes often between Missy, Millie, and Mildred. I chose Millie and the majority of the family call her that. Must be confusing for the poor cat. Anyhoo she wandered over to near the comp so I kidnapped her and snapped away with the webcam. As you may or may not see, I didn’t discern between good and bad. You got ‘em all.
Heh. Check out my slightly slept on tufts of hair :P Plus my absolutely ecstatic facial expressions heheh.

Pete – new PETEblog champion of cool

Err. Looks like no-one nominated anyone for the PETEblog award for coolness. Pete wins by default. :P

In other news, I got off my arse and got a replacement date for the formal. I would have asked her first, but my original date was all girfriendy and stuff a couple of months ago and we are such good friends it was a given for us to go together. She decided to go interstate though. Damn whatever family thing she has in NSW! Anyhoo, I’ve got to organise tickets ($65 each!@#!), before-party plans and also buy tickets for the after-party. This year the formal is at some swanky reception centre on the Yarra, and the AP is going to be in a shed somewhere behind Telstra Dome (formally Colonial stadium, originally Docklands stadium) in the Docklands. Unlimited beer, wine, champers and basic spirits this year! COME ON!

aZn hate

This post is dedicated to that ca-raa-zee New Yorkian, Lele. More specifically my dislike of her.

I ATE J00 LELE

She knows why, but is now officially not the coolest person ever. Oh well, its her loss. Fresh elections will follow, so nominate yourself, others or pets for the title of PETEblog’s coolest ever person in the history of cool. Trust me, that title will get you places. Obviously Lele was getting a bit complacent. She still owes me the 10% of Fantasy Blog’s blogathon revenue. Currently about 40 bucks for Pete!

GAP wonders

I got a letter from the GAP organisation today. I’ve been accepted not in the UK, where I’ve been planning everything around, but South Africa. Thats good in the respect that I was accepted, but still – I’m really disappointed.

I might ring GAP tomorrow and see if I can organise something else. There is plenty of reason not to want to go to South Africa: Apart from being a hell of a long way from anywhere, South Africa is not immune from the political unrest in the rest of Southern Africa and the South African accent is just plain GAY. hehe

Oh well, we’ll see.
